Welcome Home Weekend - Memorial Day
Welcome back to Buck Hill! Memorial Day weekend kicks off the season. Enjoy a Welcome Back Golf Tournament and the Tennis Club’s Welcome Back Adult Mixer, along with a variety of fun weekend events.
Parent Child Golf Tournament
Possibly the oldest ongoing Parent/Child Golf Tournament in the United States, Buck Hill Golf Club has been celebrating family connections since 1923. Parent/Child teams participate regardless of age. The only requisites are a parent or grandparent/child relationship and a fun attitude. Golfers aged 12 and under play in the 9-hole division, all others in the 18-Hole Division. An awards ceremony caps off the fun.
Fourth of July Celebration
A patriotic day-long gala begins with a reenactment of Paul Revere’s ride through town announcing “the British are coming!” Buck Hillers raise the American flag to kick off a lively parade, the centerpiece of our celebration. Decked in red, white, and blue, onlookers cheer for a marching band, vintage cars, and Camp Clubbers dressed to the annual theme. Everyone gathers at the club pool for social hour and a breakfast reception with lemonade, cookies, and goodies. Members proudly don distinctive buttons inscribed with their first year at Buck hill, a badge of honor for our longest-standing Cottagers. The afternoon is filled with old-time lawn and pool games – egg toss, sack races, and underwatermelon are among the fun. The whole community is invited to a picnic dinner at Metzgar’s Farm. After dark, fireworks provide a grand finale to BHF’s biggest holiday.
Member Guest Weekend
A jam-packed weekend of excitement when we invite guest families to experience Buck Hill Life! The Buck Hill Golf Club hosts its annual Mens’ Member-Guest Tournament, the biggest golf event of the year. The Buck Hill Tennis Club presents the Woods, Whites, & Wimbledon Tournament along with a traditional Wimbledon Breakfast. The Camp Club Carnival offers games, fun, and entertainment. Guests may join the Art Association’s House Tour through our community’s dynamic architecture and storied history. Our nature trails get an artistic makeover and all are invited to enjoy the Art Walk in the great outdoors.
Winter Festival
The week between Christmas and New Years is magical at Buck Hill Falls, beginning with holiday caroling in the Buck Hill Gardens. The Yule Log Hunt is a century-old tradition, where Buck Hill youth cooperate to find the Yule Log and haul it back from the forest. The Yule Log becomes the foundation of a roaring fire, and the community gathers around to enjoy fireside storytelling. Real reindeer make a special appearance. Decorated trees sparkle around the Paiste Pond Chalet, home base for cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, platform tennis, and sledding down Swarthmore Hill. The fun continues indoors with cookie decorating parties, gingerbread house building, ice skating, a visit from Santa, the annual Lot and Cot holiday party, and a special New Year’s At Noon Party. Adults compete in the holiday Ugly Sweater Karaoke night. This memorable holiday week culminates with a grand New Year’s Eve dinner celebration.
