Irene Recuenco
Irene Recuenco – Assistant ProfessionalIrene won several state tournaments at ages 15 and 16. She was nationally ranked in the top 100 during her junior tennis career in Spain from ages 16 to 17 before relocating to the United States. Irene began her college journey at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri, where she garnered significant recognition both as a tennis player and a student. In her first year at Northwest, she achieved a ranking of #15 in the D2 women’s national ranking. During her second year, she qualified for nationals and advanced to the quarterfinals in the Spring of 2019. Irene concluded her time at Northwest ranked #6 in the nation for singles and received the "All-American" accolade from the NCAA.
Following two years at Northwest Missouri State University, Irene transferred to the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Florida, where she earned her degree in Exercise Science. In her first season, COVID-19 led to the cancellation of scheduled matches. In the 2021 season, she reached the final of the conference championship and progressed to the regional championship. Although she fell short in the final, Irene's performance marked the end of the tennis season.
As a coach and manager, Irene spent several summers working at Bellreguard Tennis Club in Spain, leading various clinics and tournaments. In 2020, she worked at Oliva Tennis Club in Spain, where she conducted private lessons, clinics, and the Junior summer camp. During her college career, she taught private lessons at the University of West Florida and conducted adult clinics on weekends at Roger Scott Tennis Academy.
Currently pursuing her master’s degree in Exercise Science, Irene serves as a Graduate Assistant for the UWF women’s tennis team, with plans to graduate in the spring of 2025.
Irene remains committed to bringing her hard work, self-discipline, professionalism, and character to enhance the Buck Hill Falls Racquet Sports program. Her excellence and dedication have been widely recognized by the Buck Hill Falls Community, and we are delighted to welcome her back!
