There’s nothing worse for an active kid than being stuck inside when the weather takes a turn for the worse. In the spirit of putting down electronic devices and having some good, old-fashioned fun, here is a list of fun activities to try when the kids are stranded inside.

5. Indoor camping:

Clear away the furniture and break out your imaginations. If you have a decent-sized tent, you can set it up inside, and have an indoor camping adventure. Grab some sleeping bags, pillows, and flashlights, and tell spooky stories. Or pile up the pillows and couch cushions and they can grab their favorite books and read under the imaginary stars.

4. Board game night:

Sometimes it’s really easy to forget how much fun a family can have with just a board and some dice. Being sequestered in your home is the perfect opportunity to bust out some classic board games and make a night of it. Invite your neighbors over to the cottage

3. Paper snowflakes:

The weather lately has been a little less than wintry, but that doesn’t mean we have to go without snow. There are dozens of tutorials online on how to make unique, paper snowflakes. There are basic types for the younger children and more advanced, more complicated kinds for you and your older kids. Paper, a few pairs of scissors, and a creative mind is all you need.

2. Indoor scavenger/treasure hunt:

This one is our personal favorites. Building an indoor scavenger hunt is my go-to for curious kids looking for indoor activities. Write a dozen or so clues and hide them around the house for your child(ren) to find with a prize at the end! If your kids are older or particularly clever, you can stretch things out by turning the clues into riddles. Alternatively, make a list of random household objects, and see who can find everything on the list first.

1.Musical Chairs:

A community favorite here in Buck Hill! When all you need is a few friends, some good music, and chairs, what better way to have a memorable time indoors than to have a musical chairs competition? Invite your friends over, put out some snacks and drinks, crank up the speakers, and you’re ready for some old-fashioned fun.
